Thanks to our Drumming Adudicator Cameron Bullis, who along with Andrew Finley, Drum Sergeant of the Portland Metro Pipe Band volunteered almost simultaneously on short notice to judge drumming at our Saturday event after our previously scheduled judge was ill. We expect to see Cameron back next year and hope Andrew can also make it up from Portland next season, as we have drumming judges scheduled for the next two events this season.  Cameron has been a BCPA Certified drumming adjudicator for four years. He’s been the Drum Sergeant for many area bands including New Westminster Police Pipe Band and White Spot Pipe Band, and was the first Drum Sergeant for the Robert Malcolm Memorial Grade 3 / Juvenile Pipe Band, who won the World Championships in 1999 while he was with them. The next year, Cameron won the World Solo Drumming Juvenile Section 2 Championships, first Canadian to ever win an award at that contest.

Hal Senyk was our adjudicator for bagpiping. Hal’s contributions to the local and international piping scenes are widely recognized.  He was recently awarded a life membership in the British Columbia Pipers’ Association in recognition of his continuing contributions.   There’s a lifetime more stories in Hal’s background and contributions than was published in this recommended article in Pipes|Drums>>, but most recently he’s been building the next generation of pipers and drummers with White Spot Pipe Band and was one of the driving forces between the exciting new cooperation with Washington based Northwest Junior Pipe Band in forming the Northwest/White Spot United Pipe Band, a unique opportunity for youth from both bands to play at the next level together this summer and compete in Juvenile at the World Pipe Band Championships.
