100 Pipers for 100 years!

100 years ago next year, the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition put Seattle on the map, celebrating the culture, industry and innovation that still define our region today.  To help Heritage 4Culture, HistoryLink, and the Seattle’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, celebrate the anniversary of the event, an effort is underway to mark the anniversary with the largest parade of pipers and drummers to ever hit downtown Seattle.  More information will be coming soon, but bookmark the below...

2009 Location Change, Schedule Confirmed

Washington Pipe Bands top US bands at World Championships

Congratulations to the Northwest Junior Pipe Band and the Keith Highlanders Grade 4 pipe band for their great showings on their recent Scotland trips.  Both bands were the top bands from the United States in their competition grade.  The Keith Highlanders was the top Grade 4B band from the United States at the World Championships, and the Northwest Junior Pipe Band was the top US youth pipe band from either Novice or Juvenile. Two Washington Bands do well at Perth, Scotland

Two bands from Washington are competing in Scotland at the World Pipe Band Championships on Saturday, August 16th.  The Keith Highlanders and Northwest Junior Pipe Band.  NWJPB competed at North Berwick and Perth, and KHPB competed at Perth.  Northwest Junior Pipe Band placed 7th in Novice Juvenile and 5th in Juvenile at North Berwick, playing under extreme weather conditions, then won first in Grade 4 at Perth, with the Keith Highlanders also doing well, placing...

Congratulations 2008 Aggregate winners and Scholarship recipients

Thanks to Will Nichols, Piping Judge and Stephen Farrell, Drumming Judge for agreeing to judge contestants at the Saturday March 1st WPA mini-gathering.  Events begin at 10:00 am.  Doors open at 9:00 am for registration.  Directions and info available here>>. 2008 Newsletter posted!

The WPA 2008 newsletter is posted and has all the updated information for the 2008 season.  The deadline for pre-registration to qualify for scholarships was extended to December 31st.  New competition for Grade 5 drumming.  Competitions for tenor drumming.  Possible new format with drumming and piping simultaneously after beginner piping.  See the newsletter here>>.  Sign up for our new email mailing list here>>
